The Hazret Sultan Mosque is one of Astana's most modern landmarks today. It is the largest mosque in Central Asia, requiring 1,500 workers to construct it for three years before its opening. The building itself resembles an oriental palace and is a most beautiful architectural monument in Astana. The mosque boasts a dome 51 meters high and 28 meters in diameter. Four 77-meter minarets stand out at the corners of the mosque, while eight smaller domes surround the main dome. The Hazret Sultan Mosque is distinguished by its classical oriental style. White was chosen as the primary color for both the façade and interior. Massive white columns adorn the mosque's central hall, enhancing the sense of monumentality of this magnificent structure. Traditional Kazakh ornamentation abounds in the interior and façade. Situated on an area of 11 hectares, the mosque can accommodate 10,000 people at a time. Here you'll find a wedding hall, a prayer hall, an ablution room, a dressing room, and rooms for seminary classes and Koranic readings. We highly recommend visiting the Hazrat Sultan Mosque, which boasts unique architecture and stunning interior decoration.
