Baiterek Monument
One of the main symbols of Astana and modern Kazakhstan history. It was opened in 2002 and embodies the idea of revival, growth and aspiration for the future.



About the monument
The height of the monument is 97 meters, symbolizing 1997 - the year of the transfer of the capital of Kazakhstan to Astana. The structure is a tall tower topped with a golden glass sphere. Inside the sphere is an observation deck offering a panoramic view of the city. The image of «Baiterek» is based on the ancient Turkic myth of the Tree of Life, at the top of which the bird Samruk lays a golden egg - a symbol of the sun, life and prosperity. This legend reflects the connection between past, present and future. Today «Baiterek» is a popular tourist attraction and cultural symbol of the capital, attracting guests with its architecture and deep symbolic meaning.

What is inside the «Baiterek» monument
The interior space of the «Baiterek» monument is open to visitors and consists of several levels.
The lower part of the monument houses an entrance hall with ticket offices, a souvenir shop and an information area for guests. Exhibition materials telling about the history of the creation of «Baiterek» and the development of the capital are also located here. Access to the upper levels is via a high-speed elevator. During the ascent, visitors can see elements of the tower's internal structure. On the upper level, inside the glass sphere, there is an observation deck. From here, a circular panoramic view of Astana and its main architectural objects opens up. In the center of the hall is the composition «Ayaly Alakan» - the palm print of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, symbolizing peace, harmony and unity. Interactive and multimedia elements are also located inside the sphere, allowing you to learn more about the symbolism of the monument and the history of the city. Visiting «Baiterek» gives you the opportunity not only to see the city from above, but also to get to know the cultural and symbolic meaning of one of the main monuments of Astana in more depth.
