The Museum of the First President is located in the Nazarbayev Center, a striking architectural design by Sir Norman Foster. The building resembles a giant eye reaching skyward. According to the architect, the unique appearance of the structure symbolizes the vitality of Kazakhstan. The museum's exhibition draws on an extensive collection of archival documents, photographs, video materials, and exhibits dedicated to various stages of the life and work of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, and the history of Kazakhstan's independence. The Museum's halls display collections of state and public awards of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, diplomatic gifts, and books presented by heads of state and government of foreign countries and international organizations. In addition to the permanent exhibitions, the Museum hosts temporary exhibitions.
